Hublot’s watches are distinctive and handsome; in particular their successful Big Bang models. This year, there is a bumper crop of novelties to suit every taste, from a skeletonized tourbillon with chronograph, to a range of matt-finished sports watches.

The Bigger Bang All Black (above) is the highlight of Hublot’s show this year. It is watch of some distinction, with its microblasted, black ceramic case of 44.5 mm in diameter, and its skeletonized dial showcasing a “flying” tourbillon movement with an attached chronograph. This being near the pinnacle of haute horlogerie, the Bigger Bang All Black is limited to just 28 pieces.

Hublot’s Big Bang model continues to impress and do well with its bold and imposing design. New for this year is the Hublot Big Bang Mat model (above and below), which distinguishes itself by being microblasted so that the finish of the case, in either platinum, pink gold, or tantalum, is matt instead of shiny. This lends all these new models a unique, sophisticated look to them that is unlike most other fine watches with their traditional, burnished gloss. Light, instead of glaring off the case, is gently diffused, giving the reflection an added dimension and complexity to it.

The Big Bang Mat’s case measures 44.5 mm across, and is water-resistant to 100 meters. The movement is an automatic winding Hublot HUB44 caliber, designed in part by La Joux-Perret. Power reserve is around 42 hours.

Also new for 2007 is the latest Big Bang King (above). It has a palladium or red gold case with an imposing 48 mm diameter. The matt black dial covers an automatic movement of the HUB21 caliber. End of Article
