There will be 11 chronographs in this series and all will be fitted with the new Carbontime oscillator - a graphitized carbon hairspring and quartz balance with adjustment facility. This balance complete is resistant to the thermal and magnetic troubles that have plagued watchmakers and stable timekeeping for centuries. Gideon Levingston, the owner of Carbontime, is also Kari’s casemaker. Using traditional techniques, Levingston will be fabricating the cases for the all of the chronographs, as well as the Masterpiece series.

If this wasn’t enough (MP7, MP8 and Caliber 25) work for one year, Voutilainen also began a small series of chonometers based on the legendary Peseux 260 movement. And, as one has come to expect, orders were quickly placed for these watches.

Turning 45 years old this year, Voutilainen is entering his watchmaking prime. Twenty years of varied, high grade, work and countless hours of effort have paid off with well-conceived and magnificently executed watches. Now a full member of the AHCI and a founding member of TimeAeon, this one-time insider’s secret is now acknowledged for what he already was; a master.
