The dial of this Daniel Roth has been skeletonised, and the Perpetual Calendar mechanism is mounted on a hand engraved platform.

Over that is a skeleton dial of 18K gold with roman numerals for the hours. To the left side of the dial is the day chapter ring, to the right the month chapter ring, and at the bottom are two chapter rings, one for the date and another that indicates the leap year cycle.

The leap year indication is especially helpful if the watch has been idle for an extended period of time and needs to be reset.

On the left is a calendar platform complete, and on right a calendar platform in progress. Remember that the platform must first be machined and then engraved. Everyone must do their job perfectly or the integrity of the mechanism will be compromised.
