Porsche Design’s Worldtimer P’6750 has received this
year’s “iF Product Design Award”, an annual award presented by Industrie Forum
Design in Hanover.
Watch
producer Eterna, a licensee partner of Porsche Design since 1988, designed and
built the Worldtimer P’6750’s movement, which is based on the ETA “Valgranges
calibre A 07 111”. Clad in matte titanium or titanium with black PVD coating, this
dual-time zone watch was first showcased at Baselworld in April. The second
time zone is simultaneously displayed on rotating discs seen via two apertures
at the three and nine o’clock positions, indicating the reference location and
the corresponding time. An additional crown at the two o’clock position is used
to set and adjust the time in the second reference location. When switching
time zones, all you have to do is press a button on this crown, and the hands
on the watch dial immediately display the time in the second time zone.
The award
ceremony will be held on 4th March 2008 during the “CeBit” Information Technology
trade fair in Hanover. This is the second award that Porsche Design has
received in successive months. In October, readers of “connect”
telecommunications magazine have voted the company’s P’9521 mobile phone as the
“Product of the Year” for 2007 in the luxury mobile phone category.
