History is becoming a thing of the present, with luxury watch
brands like Vacheron Constantin, reviving their classic 1972 Cambrée series. Awarded the prestigious "Diplôme du
Prestige de la France" on 23 June 1972, Vacheron Constantin’s new
interpretation of the 1972 retains its
classy trapeze-shaped case. The "Ladies Timepieces" collection has two versions
of the 1972 Small Model; one with a 115 diamond-embellished case and a 1972 pin
buckle lined with diamonds, another is adorned with 232 diamonds (approx. 1.64
cts) and a 18-carat white or pink gold bracelet with asymmetrical links.
The
former is accentuated by a gem-set "wave" motif of 37 dazzling diamonds, and
comes with a choice of sky-blue or
beige hand-stitched alligator leather. Both feature a special dial with two
super-imposed parts—the first is a "mirror" polished in white or pink gold
underplate, and the second is opaline silver-coloured with 12 and 6 o’clock
cut-outs revealing the Roman numerals. The Large Haute Joaillerie 1972
Model completes this collection with an 18-carat white gold dial and case
bejewelled in 168 baguette-cut diamonds (totalling approximately 17.67 cts),
contrasted against a dark grey leather or satin strap. All three timepieces promise
a closer fit for delicate wrists, making the 1972 Cambrée the perfect companion for women.
