The traditional exchange of business cards
might soon be under threat, thanks to the Handshake Ring. Winner of the red dot
design concept 2007, information exchange works via a
simple handshake, between two individuals wearing Handshake Rings. The rings
work together with a seperate digital card, which stores your personal
information as well as a database of all the people you've exchanged information
with. All of this, depending on your preference, can be exchanged with another
ring user.
Instead of batteries, the designers Hideaki Matsui, Dong Ho Yun and Jea Wan Park intended their product
to operate solely on body heat. Luckily for the makers of conventional
business cards and germophones alike, it's unlikely that this product will be
available for at least another 10 years.
