Mercedes-Benz adds to its family with
the new baby of its coupe family, the CLC Sports Coupe. While
retaining a fast-back wedge shape like the previous generation Sports
Coupe, the CLC’s design has obvious styling cues from the new
C-Class, and is notably more aggressive.
This is an important car for
Mercedes-Benz as it’s targeted at younger car-buyers who might not
have owned a Mercedes before. As with the Sports Coupe before it, the
CLC, with all its impressive features, will seek to impress its
owners to convert them into life-long customers of the German marque.
Mercedes says it has developed or
enhanced over 1100 components for this new car, and the car features
a new direct-steer system for sharper handling, as well as a choice
of six engines (four petrol and two turbo-diesel). The highest end of
the range, the CLC 350, pumps out 272 hp, powering the car to 100km/h
in 6.3 seconds. Fully dressed to impress, the optional sports package
also includes 18 inch wheels and lowered suspension and a sporty
interior with dark brushed aluminium trim elements.
