Consumer electronics continues its upwards trend towards
higher build quality, as evidenced by Nokia’s release of the 7900 Crystal
Prism.
The phone, a collaboration with graphic and fashion designer Frédérique Daubal,
features integration of special materials. A sapphire crystal centre key takes
pride of place within the diamond-shaped keypad, while the back cover is made
with aluminium and is laser etched with Daubal’s designs.
The by-now obligatory on-phone camera has a resolution of 2 mega-pixels,
while sporting 1GB of built-in memory.
Clad in burgundy, the quad-band 7900 is positioned clearly as a fashion
phone but the use of more exotic materials should elevate it above its rivals.
The phone will be available this Q1 2008.
