IWC Schaffhausen will unveil its new
Pilot’s Watches it dubs the “Father and Son” at the upcoming
annual SIHH watch fair in Geneva in April. Consistent in its publicity for
this pair of watches, IWC has chosen to emphasize the close-knit ties
between father and son.
This is exemplified by the numerous
distinctive features the pair shares – light-colored rhodium-plated
dials, onion-shaped crowns, black crocodile leather straps and
characteristic steel rivets.
The only difference is in their sizes.
The “Father” watch, otherwise known as the Big Pilot’s Watch,
has a 46.2 mm platinum case housing a 51111 caliber featuring an
automatic Pellaton winding system, and a 7-day (or 168 hours) power
reserve. The Pilot’s Watch Mark XVI, or “Son” watch has a
slightly smaller 39 mm stainless steel case, and with a shorter 42 hr
power reserve.
