Rolls-Royce
will unveil the new Phantom Coupé at the 78th
International Geneva Motor Show in March this year.
Following
the overwhelming positive response to the concept 101EX that Rolls
Royce released in 2006, Rolls-Royce decided last year they would
build a series model, and hence birthed the Phantom Coupé.
With
an all-aluminium spaceframe at its base, it offers great
strength-to-weight ratio, and aluminium has also been used for all
the coupé’s panels, except for the picnic boot, steel bonnet
and A-pillar surround.
A
6.75-liter V12 engine powers the coupé from rest to 100 km/h
in 5.6 seconds, maxing out at a top speed of 250 km/h. While the
craftsmanship is what we have come to expect of a Rolls, the coupe’s
engineering and technology is almost all BMW, Rolls’ parent company
– from the engine’s direct fuel injection to the car’s braking
systems, and a 49:51 weight distribution.
The coupé completes the Phantom family,
which also includes the Phantom, Phantom Extended Wheelbase and
Phantom Drophead Coupé. And like its cousins, the coupé
features the attention-grabbing Starlight Headlining feature, which
transforms the roof of the car’s interior into a stellar night sky
via hundreds of fiber optics lights.
Prospective owners can also
choose from 44,000 exterior colors through the company’s Bespoke
programme if they do not fancy any of the nine standard colors
offered.
