Porsche Design's P’7340 kitchen has walked away with an iF Gold Award at the annual iF Awards, together with a Product Design award. The luxury men’s brand based in Austria also received Product Design awards for its P’6750 watch and P’9521 mobile phone.
The idea behind the award-winning P’7340 kitchen is a skeletal
structure of aluminium frames into which the cupboard elements can be
individually positioned, with open spaces built into the design. The
cupboards have no handles but can be opened with a light touch. There’s
a high-tech audio/video system and multi-functional lighting
systems incorporated in the kitchen setup.
Regarded as the equivalent of the Oscars of the design industry, the
annual iF Awards is held by the Industrie Forum Design, and the prize
presentation ceremony took place on 4 March at the CeBIT show in
Hanover.
Gold awards were handed out to the top 50 of the 821 design award
winners. Last year saw a total of 2,771 entry submissions in 14
different product categories.
