Here’s a truly green and eco-friendly
to celebrate Earth Week with, and at the same time, add a touch of
minimalist chic to your patio or interior spaces.
The SOLo Lounge
Table by Canadian company Intelligent Forms Designs looks like a mini
computer desk on wheels. The table top actually houses a slab of
solar panels beneath a glass surface that collects and converts solar
energy to electricity.
This can then be used to power or recharge
your laptops, portable music players, mobile phones and other
electronic devices via USB ports and standard three-prong outlets.
Speaking to Goldarths
Review via email, Innes Yates from Intelligent Forms Designs says the table contains a small microcomputer, which records all
performance data related to power accumulated by the table, and power
discharged to devices.
The SOLo’s Bluetooth
technology allows this data to be sent wirelessly
to a computer, where the user can then analyze the information and use it to monitor
power usage habits, savings, usage and performance. This information can
also be viewed on the table's LCD monitor.
And in the evening, the SOLo’s internal LED
lights emit a soft warm glow to enhance the mood in the living room.
In a typical outdoor setting, the SOLo is
capable of harnessing over 17 kilowatts of solar energy every year.
That’s enough to charge your mobile phone 6,300 times, your digital
camera 8,400 times or your laptop 168 times.
