On first impression, the Plantronics Discovery 925 Bluetooth
headset looks like a giant hairclip. The Discovery 925, officially launched on April Fools Day, is the company’s maiden
venture in the luxury headset market, targeted at fashionistas, and needless to
say, women.
So it is hardly surprising that Plantronics chose the New York
Fashion Week to offer the media a sneak peek of this stylish headset in
February this year. The company says the headset is meant to be treated like a
piece of jewellery, and its lipstick-lookalike leather charging case just
accentuates the feminine factor.
The headset is not just a pretty face though; it boasts
excellent audio quality with Plantronics' AudioIQ digital signal processing
technology, which significantly cuts the effect of background noise.
In
addition, it comes with Multipoint technology, which lets you use one handset
with two different phones. And unlike most heels, it’s a comfortable fit. The
company plans to have more colors available in future, but for now, you will
have to settle for black, gold and cerise. Each headset is priced at US$149.95.
