New York-based award-winning designer Karim Rashid teams up
with Veuve Clicquot for the second time in creating a portable champagne
cooler, called Globalight, that incidentally, emits a soft pink halo of light
that surrounds the champagne bottle.
What is unique about Globalight is that heat from the light
emitted is not transferred to the champagne bottle, so the bottle is maintained
at an ideal temperature for two hours.
With its sleek elliptical lines and brushed aluminium
structure, the Globalight makes for a contemporary decorative design piece on
its own.
Priced at US$4,000 a bottle, Globalight will be created in a
limited edition of 500, and was unveiled to the public for the first time at
the Milan Furniture Fair on Wednesday.
