While it may no longer be the fastest street-legal
production car in the world (the SSC Aero took care of that in late 2007),
Bugatti’s flagship Veyron will soon become the world’s fastest drop-top with
the introduction of a costlier, more exclusive targa-top variant.
Although the targa-top will have a comparatively lower top
speed in comparison to the original couple, proud owners can still look forward
to more than just a light breeze in the face at speeds of up to 217mph.
The reduced top speed is a result of reinforcements to the
car’s chassis; a move made necessary due to the compromised structural rigidity
caused by its removable hard-top. Only 80 units of this ultra-exclusive exotic
are being built, as compared to the original’s already sparse production run of
300.
