Move over Smart Fortwo, here comes
the CLEVER, or Compact Low Emission Vehicle for Urban Transport. Designed by
the Technical University of Berlin, the CLEVER offers convenient city driving
through small measurements (3m long, 1m wide), light-weight (400
kg) and low fuel consumption (98 mpg), with a chic futuristic motorbike appearance
to boot.
Accommodating two passengers, it overcomes the cornering problems
experienced by most three-wheeled vehicles through two computer-controlled
hydraulic actuators, which rotate the cabin around a maximum angle of 45
degrees each way. The CLEVER is powered by a modified 230cc BMW engine, capable
of a modest top speed of 62 mph.
