Renowned designer Christophe Pillet ‘shed’ new light on the
Bar du Port in Saint Tropez with an entire makeover of this chill-out nook, a
playground for Parisian fashionistas, which first opened in 2001.
In his own words, Pillet wanted to “create a space of
brightness, radiating, reflecting, the port, the boats, absorbing the sun and
the light”. These images are played out through the bar’s extensive
installation of glass and smoked mirrors, which allows LED lights to dance and
morph into various shapes on its surfaces.
The lights change color over the
course of the day, evoking different sets of moods. The white stone and white
furnishings are excellent light reflectors, extending the performance arena of
the “dancing lights”.
