Architects Atelier Jean Nouvel have won a design competition
to revitalize Paris’ La Défense with their Tour Signal project, edging out
other famous names like Foster + Partners, Daniel Libeskind, Jacques Ferrier
Architectures and Wilmotte et Associés SA.
The 71-storey building will be divided into four sections,
each stacked on top of the other like building blocks. Each section features a
large and spacious atrium with balconies facing different directions.
The project will be constructed at Porte Ouest of La
Défense, and will house a hotel, as well as office, retail and residential
space. The Tour Signal project is part of an initiative to redevelop the
business district at La Défense, giving it a modern, dynamic facelift while
ensuring social, economic and environmental sustainability.
