The latest Envy 133 laptop unveiled by Voodoo, an American
manufacturer of high-end gaming PCs, is the newest ultra-portable poised to hit
the market in the wake of the Macbook Air. Just 0.70 inches (or less than 1.8 cm) thick, a sliver
under the Apple’s 0.76, the Envy promises an impressive range of features in
its super-slim package.
Like its rival, the Envy comes with a 13.3-inch LED display,
GMA X3100 graphics and a 1.8GHz Core 2 Duo processor. Weighing in at 3.37 lbs,
it comes with a removable battery, an Ethernet port, an ExpressCard slot, a
HDMI video port, shared headphone-out microphone –in ports, and two USB ports,
one of which is also eSATA capable.
A unique feature is the Voodoo IOS, an instant start-up option
allowing users to launch Internet browsers, Skype and access photos without
booting Windows.
Operating on Windows Vista, the laptop also has a carbon fiber
casing, LED backlit keyboard, integrated webcam and large touchpad capable of
multiple finger tracking and chiral scrolling. DVD drives and optical drives
are external, but come with the package.
