Jam lovers should indulge in unique breakfast treats from We Love Jam, a small California-based company that hand-make precious Blenheim apricot jam.

Since 2002, founder Eric Haeberli and his business partner have picked only the best apricots from one of the last remaining Blenheim orchards in Santa Clara Valley. Over the years, they employed various means to save the endangered Blenheim apricots from the onslaught of industrialization, starting with the old Blenheim tree in their backyard.

What sets their jam apart is a saccharine robust flavour attributed to the Blenheim apricot, the best fresh ingredients, nature-friendly packaging, and strict quality control.

According to Eric, other varieties of apricots pale in comparison in terms of color and texture.

Explaining this difference, Eric says in an email interview with Luxury-Insider: “Apricots used in jam and also the fresh ones that are sold in the market are a variety that has been bred to travel well and yet for this durability the taste has been significantly reduced.

“But traditionally, Blenheim apricots don’t transport well, so they have always been sun-dried. Dried apricots in America came almost exclusively from the Santa Clara Valley until around 20 years ago. Among farmers and chefs, this apricot has long been known as the very best tasting. So when people taste our jam it really blows them away. This is the way apricots should taste.”

Eric also designed the brand’s simple but chic labels, showcasing each jar’s contents through a clear circle.

We Love Jam’s online product range includes uncommon varieties of preserved fruits such as bread and butter pickles, a homemade BBQ sauce, Fukushu kumquat marmalade, Mariposa or Elephant Heart plum jams, and delicious biscotti made from fine Belgian chocolate and expensive hand-roasted Mission almonds.

Be prepared to be on a waiting list though, as all their products are made in very limited qualities and custom-made for clients.
