Chevrolet will be seconds away from unveiling its 2010 Camaro at General Motors’ Warren Technical Center in Michigan (with a live webcast on its website as well) as this article goes to press but already, pictures and details of this restyled retro 1969 classic have flooded the Internet.
The new Camaro will come fitted with a 6.2-liter V8 or a 3.6-liter V6 pushing out 416 and 296 ponies respectively, and with an option of a six-speed manual or automatic transmission. The trims available are LS, LT and SS though Chevy will soon be able to lift the lid on the mysterious “RS” insignia that showed up in all official press images of the new Camaro.
A full independent suspension sits under the hood with StabiliTrak traction control system, and for the SS variant, four-pot Brembo brakes. Other nuggets borrowed from the 1969 Camaros include a gauge cluster, with leather seats and blue LED lighting. The Camaro coupe will be available in the Unites States in early 2009, with a convertible version in the latter half of 2009.
