Swiss luxury watchmaker Blancpain is going into the magazine business with Edition Fifty Fathoms. This magazine, touted as the most prestigious title dedicated to the wonders of the deep, is an extravagant affair featuring the work of the top 50 underwater photographers in the world.

No expense has been spared here as Blancpain uses a special printing process and, at 300 grams per page, very thick and high quality materials.

The Le Brassus-based manufacture seeks to tie everything about the magazine to the words Fifty Fathoms, the numbers 50, 1.829 (in meters, the measure of a fathom) and 91.45 (in meters, the measure of 50 fathoms).

Only 50 photographs will published in an issue, each of which is made up of 50 double pages, in editions limited to 50 (Series 1), 1829 (Series 2) and 1,000 (Series 3). Series 3 is currently available at www.edition-fifty-fathoms.com.
