These colorful pieces of delectable jello pack a potent punch. After all, they are solid cocktail jelly shots, which contain amongst them rosé Champagne, B-52 (gelatin strips of Kahlúa, Baileys and Grand Marnier which looks deceptively like Nonya “kueh” or sweet Peranakan rice-cakes), pear martini, tequila sunrise, gin and tonic, and blueberry martini.
You can find the B-52s at Bar Nineteen 12 at the Beverly Hills Hotel, which also serves pyramid-shaped blueberry martini jelly shots, sorbets of pomegranate mojito, grapefruit margarita, and lavender pear martini served on a lighted glass box. Alternatively, you can have a crack at whipping up your own intoxicating solid cocktail at home.
For something more adventurous, check out pastry chef Adrian Vasquez’s creations at the Providence in Los Angeles – mojito blobs or the “sizzle-in-your-mouth” gin and tonic gelée, with lime zest garnishes. Craft in Century City serves ice-cube-like Prosecco gelées for dessert.
