After setting the record for the world’s fastest production
car with their SSC Ultimate Aero TT, Shelby SuperCars aims to get yet another
“World’s Fastest” title under their belt, this time for the world’s fastest
electric car.
The SSC Ultimate Aero EV will deliver a high performance,
pollution-free drive with its twin 500 bhp electric motors pushing out a total
of 1,000 bhp in a two- or four-wheel drive configuration. The company is also
in the process of developing a revolutionary drive train featuring a power
source that will allow for extended periods between charge intervals.
With the first prototype expected to be complete in February
2009, and the first production model delivered as early as the fourth quarter
of the same year, only time will tell if SSC will indeed succeed in adding this
historical milestone to their list of achievements.
