Realizing the importance of safeguarding one’s fine wine on
the high seas, Dutch company Bottler BV has commissioned a renowned Dutch
interior yacht designer to invent a contraption capable of keeping 90mm bottles
upright, even in rough conditions.
Inspired by Italian physician, philosopher
and mathematician Gerolamo Cardano’s 'cardanic suspension' contraption in 1537
that held compasses stable against ship movements, the result is a handmade,
aesthetically stunning invention, crafted with the precision of a watchmaker.
Prices start from 5,000 euros, and go up depending on customization and
material selections, which include hand-polished brass, precious stones,
exclusive leathers and unique engravings.
