In June, we brought you news of Dellis Cay, a 560-acre
private island gateway in the Turks and Caicos archipelago.
The island’s developer The O Property Collection on Monday
announced that its 15 Villas by renowned Japanese architect Shigeru Ban, one of
the members of a stellar cast of architects that have been commissioned to
design the resort’s beach house residences and villas, are now available for
sale through Asia Pacific Properties in Hong Kong.
For the Dellis Cay project, Ban has created two contrasting
styles four-bedroom designs with private water pavilions – Maison H and Maison
S. Maison H (pictured below) adopts a more classic approach with high ceilings, and fully
retractable glass walls opening out into a pond and swimming pool, creating the
illusion that the entire villa is natant.
Maison S delights with sinuous curves that embrace a
circular reflecting pond, and an angular swimming pool. Ban says of his designs: “Both villas aim for the closest possible relationship
between the interior space and the predominant presence of the ocean.”
Like all properties
on Dellis Cay, the Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group will manage and provide
concierge services to the Villas by Shigeru Ban. Ownership starts at US$8.5
million.
Other prominent
architects who have been invited to lend their creative touches to the Dellis
Cay project include Piero Lissoni, David Chipperfield, Carl
Ettensperger, Kengo Kuma, Chad Oppenheim and Zaha Hadid.
Phase one of the project, which comprises 54 two- or
three-bedroom beach house residences by Lissoni, as well as the Mandarin
Oriental hotel and spa, are currently underway. The entire project is slated
for completion in 2010.
