Famous for virtually reinventing the wristwatch with the
Freak, Le Locle-based watchmaking brand Ulysse Nardin has no small amount of
expertise in dual time and perpetual mechanisms.
At BaselWorld this year, the automatic
Quadrato Dual Time Perpetual is a continuation and extension of this know-how –
this time in a square 42mmX42mm case.
Like its famous predecessors, the
perpetual calendar here is adjustable via a single crown, both forwards and
backwards. It is still the only perpetual calendar to offer this functionality.
Similarly unique, the dual time complication here sees local time occupy the
main dial – with the hour hand adjustable via ‘+/-’ pushers – while home time
is indicated by the third hand. Both complications work together to advance all
the counters (big date, day, month and year) forwards or backwards when the
local time is adjusted.
