Car Magazine reports that Mercedes-Benz and Aston Martin are
considering a collaboration that would see the two famous brands sharing
engines, hybrids, transmissions and platforms.
Known internally as Project
Alligator, the move would possibly see Mercedes engines under the hood of
future Aston Martins, for example, an AMG 6.2L V8 in a Vantage or an
eight-speed Mercedes auto transmission in future Astons.
Future Aston Martins
may even feature hybrid and diesel models using technology from Mercedes.
There’s also talk of Aston Martin and Maybach working together on future models
to revive the fortunes of Mercedes’ ultra-luxury brand.
