Combining health and leisure, thermal spa baths are the
latest addition to Thermal Bad Aibling, a small resort 60km south east of Munich. Bad
Aibling is the oldest “moor” spa in Bavaria that upholds the traditions of the
town but underwent a complete overhaul last year.
Designed by Stuttgart-based firm Behnisch Architekten, the new facilities at Bad Aibling elevate the already
luxurious resort to offer visitors pampering with health benefits.
Extensive wellness areas and outdoor swimming pools of Bad
Aibling are nestled amidst the beautiful surrounding landscape of the Bavarian
Alps. Indoor pools and treatment areas provide private space for those who
desire seclusion.
These are accommodated in separate ‘cabinet-like’ units, and
are united by a pool deck that extends from the changing areas and into a spacious
and beautiful wintergarden towards the outdoor terraces.
With beautiful domed architecture of polished white,
low-lying timber roofs over the outdoor decks and glazed roof lights that allow
the control of variable sunlight, the overall effect enhances peace and
relaxation where modern settings meet traditional Moorish culture.
