The first fruits of the Aston Martin-Bang & Olufsen
partnership, which took place in December last year, can now be seen, and heard
in the form of the new BeoSound audio system that will grace the Aston Martin
DBS and DB9.
Thirteen individual speakers, which consist of five
mid-range speakers, five tweeters and three woofers, are carefully positioned
in ten locations around the car, and controlled by B&O’s Digital Signal
Processing (DSP) unit. One of the three woofers is a powerful 200mm subwoofer
mounted beneath the rear bench.
Upping
the stylish quotient are two ALT (or Acoustic Lens Technology) tweeters mounted
on either side of the dashboard that surface stealthily when the car is
started. Aluminium finishes on the loudspeaker grilles blend harmoniously with
the bespoke Aston Martin styling.
