While this bizarre amalgamation of two vastly different cars
may have sparked polarized opinions from virtually the entire automobile
enthusiast community, there’s no doubting the skill it must have taken to fit a
2002 Ferrari 360 3.6L V8 engine and six-speed transmission into a vintage 1960
Nash Rambler Wagon.
The idea originated from one of those light-hearted banter
between Tim Divers of Divers Street Rots and Mike Warn a couple of years ago.
But unlike most concepts that remained as sketches on paper or breathtaking
computer-generated graphics, the Ferrambo project actually got off the ground
and has since then evolved into a fervently discussed, Ridler award-winning
work of art featuring exquisite craftsmanship, inspired engineering, and an
undisclosed yet undoubtedly astronomical price tag.
The modification process
required vast customization, both hand- and machine-made.
This includes features
like an Art Morrison & Divers Street Rods chassis, customized wheel hubs,
MoTec gauges, a speedway steering column, a saffron fine Scottish leather
interior alongside its purebred 405hp pedigree engine.
There's even a set of custom-made
leather luggage that fits snugly under the hood.
Modern implements like GPS or
camera sensors are intentionally left out in favor of a spartan approach
befitting the subtle yet masterful genius that lies beneath the Ferrambo’s
unassuming exterior.
