The Factory Hotel, the newest member of the Design
Hotels brand of boutique hotels, is a merger of buildings located
at the defunct Germania Brewery in Muenster, Germany – historical city and
cultural hub of the Westphalia region. It is slated to open in December.
Architect Andreas Deilmann
has transformed the area into a pulsating entertainment quarter. The main
brewery building overlooks a lake and is surrounded by restaurants, clubs and
shops. The 128 guestrooms and 16 suites are all housed in a new wing, and
feature stark industrial touches.
A less intimidating atmosphere is created
with the raw concrete walls balanced out by warm woods and felt textiles. Each
room features its own balcony, a spacious bathroom as well as a work area.
A fitness centre at the
hotel has a swimming pool, roof terrace, spa and personal training service. Nine
meeting and event spaces ranging in size from 35 to 350 square meters are also
available.
Bearing the beat of its
lively scene is the Live Club which features a varied programme of poetry
slams, readings and live jazz. Its neighbor, the spacious two storeys Night
Club hosts a varying line-up of local and international DJs.
