While the all-new Jaguar XJ based on a new design language is still a few years away from materializing, Jaguar has announced further revisions to its existing all-aluminium top cat for a more "assertive and sporting appearance".

These changes include a revised front-end design, new side power vents, rear aero spoiler, full width chrome ‘signature blade’ and a new rear bumper.

The updated XJ range gets a choice of two engines – a 2.7-liter diesel engine with excellent fuel economy and green accolades, and a 400bhp 4.2-liter supercharged petrol V8 which the company calls 'Super V8'.

However, it is the interiors that receive the most notable upgrades, with greater leg and foot room in the rear, heated front seats across the XJ range, sat-nav, front and rear parking aids, and bi-xenon headlights.

The XJ Sovereign model adds air-cooled seats, seat heaters for the rear, and 20-inch Takoba wheels into the mix. Jaguar has opted to discontinue the Sport Premium XJ model.

Prices for the revamped XJ starts at £44,599 for the Executive, rising to £57,760 for the Super V8, with an additional £1,712 for those who desire a long wheelbase version.
