Since 2000, The Sanderson, the second hotel in London
founded by boutique hotelier Ian Schrager has been a destination focusing on
holistic well-being, an urban spa to relax and rejuvenate the tired traveler.
The Philippe Starck-designed hotel features 150 rooms, each
deliberately conceived to overturn the existing notions of space in the
conventional hotel room. For example, there are no inner dividing walls in each
room; only built-in electronically controlled silk drapes to accord a sense of
space or privacy at the guests’ discretion.
The hotel also features a central courtyard garden from the 1950s,
designed by noted landscape architect Philip Hicks, as well as a restaurant
with an innovative organic menu created by world-renowned chef Alain Ducasse.
