While
spending long hours aboard a plane probably signal fitful sleep for most of us,
a night’s rest on board a plane may soon become the coveted choice of sleep
with the debut of Jumbo Hostel – the world’s first hostel in a plane.
Housed in a decommissioned Boeing
747, the Jumbo Hostel has had its interiors refurbished, converting typically
cramped cabin space into comfortable rooms each furnished with lush beds, flat
screen TVs and WiFi access.
The hostel boasts just one deluxe suite, quartered
in the former pilot’s cockpit and comes with an ensuite bathroom. Guests can
look forward to waking up to a pilot’s view with the cockpit’s panoramic
windows, or try their hand in ‘plioting an airplane’ in simulated in-flight
situations with the pilot’s control panel, which has been left in its entirety
to satisfy curiosities.
Permanently stationed at the entrance to Stockholm Arlanda Airport, The Jumbo Hostel is
easily accessible from the busy airport, providing an opportune alternative to
transit stays.
The Hostel’s management, predicting great public interest in
this one-of-a-kind lodge, will be opening its doors to walk-in customers to its
in-house café situated on the left wing observation deck so that more could
enjoy the views from on top of a real Jumbo Jet’s wing, and to boast of their
visit to its unique abodes.
