Luxury watchmakers Girard-Perregaux debuted an annual calendar
wristwatch with a feminine twist at the recently concluded SIHH in Geneva. With
its oval gold case, mother-of-pearl dial, 68 diamonds (0.68 carats) and white
satin strap, this is a picture-perfect woman's watch.
Aside from hours and
minutes, the Cat's Eye shows off a combination of the months of the year
alongside the zodiac while the date subdial at 2 o'clock requires adjustment
only once a year, thus displaying the virtues of the annual calendar mechanism.
Along with the central moonphase window and the small seconds subdial, the
overall aesthetics here bring home Girard-Perregaux's message that
complications can be turned into design features, without compromising
timekeeping. The engine of this watch is the self-winding calibre GP033M0 with
a power reserve of 46 hours.
