Swiss watchmaking brand Breguet introduces the Twin Rotating
Tourbillons at BaselWorld in 2009, featuring a hand-wound movement with a pair
of tourbillon regulators rotating on the hour axis.
Visually stunning, the
watch is a 44mm horological tour de force in pink gold, with more than 570
hand-assembled components. Working independently from one another, the two
tourbillons are coupled by means of differential gears, mounted on a rotating
centre plate and complete a revolution in 12 hours.
The differential device conveys the two tourbillons’ mean
rate to the rotating centre plate, resulting in a theoretical degree of
precision twice that of a standard watch. The hour is shown by means of the
bridge connecting the tourbillon regulators that doubles as a watch hand, while
a standard hand at the centre indicates the minutes.
Note that the hour and
minutes axes remain the same as in a conventional timepiece. Impeccable finish
and spectacular engraving work on the back of the case add to the extraordinary
appeal of this timepiece.
