Sweet treats are in store, literally, when you shop at the
On Pedder boutique in Hong Kong this Easter. From April 8 – 30, the boutique
has partnered with Dylan’s Candy Bar (DCB) to give shoppers a taste of
America’s famous candy empire.
The brainchild of Dylan Lauren (pictured above), DCB has in its eight years
of operation since 2001, quickly established itself as an American icon, and a
“store-in-store” wonderland on its own. Think Roald Dahl’s Charlie’s Chocolate
Factory, albeit the candy version.
We’re talking about a 15,000 sq ft shrine dedicated to candy
at her eponymous flagship in New York City. Ten-foot tall chocolate Easter
rabbit, gargantuan jellybeans, starlight mint furniture, giant lollipop
‘trees’, thousands of candy selections, even a café, bar and private rooms, as
well as candy-made designer fashion apparel and candy-inspired bath & body
products.
With five shops in the United States, Dylan, who turns 35
this year, is exhibiting the same entrepreneurial drive, with an eye for
fashion and design that is evident in her famous father, Ralph Lauren.
So while you may not get the full DCB experience at On
Pedder, you will still find signature DCB favorites and some choice selections
in a complimentary goodie bag to go with your new pair of heels or tote.
If the bag alone isn’t enough to satisfy your sweet tooth, feel free
to take your pick from more DCB candy at the store, in the knowledge that your
indulgence is helping the Children’s Charity Foundation. The good news is that
Dylan has expressed her interest in expanding overseas, in particular Asia, so
this could yet be an appetizer for sweeter things to come.
