Lamborghini’s four-door Estoque concept stole the show when
it debuted at the Paris Motor Show last year. The stylish sedan was highly
tipped to make it to production, and would make an exciting third model in the
Raging Bull’s fleet.
However, reports surfaced on the Internet over the weekend
that the Estoque project is dead, citing Lamborghini’s R&D chief Maurizio
Reggiani in an interview with Autocar magazine, who said: “The timing and
market conditions are just not right for an additional model line.”
Reggiani had earlier told reporters at the concept’s launch
last year that the Estoque could hit the roads in 2011.
Lamborghini today issued a press statement to deny the
rumors that the Estoque has been killed off completely but stopped short of
confirming whether the project would proceed as planned.
The company went on
to reiterate that “if a third model line should ever be added to its product
line up, a four door luxury performance saloon could be a logical product
strategy”.
