Italian furniture maker Emmei ventured an unconventional
take on the standard modular coffee table, coming up with a classy, stylish yet
perfectly functional model called Canal Grande.
As its
name suggests, the design of this modern leather coffee table reflects
influences from canals. Like two pieces of land split by a meandering canal,
the Canal Grande consists of two entities - each separable, leaving a canal-like
space in between. The two can also be pieced together, seamlessly conjoining at
its curvy edges for a larger surface area.
In
contrasting hues of black and white, the two pieces that make up Canal Grande
is a striking composition when pieced together, yet works well as individual
end tables in the duo classic colors. Sheathed in fine mid-grain or
crocodile-embossed mid-grain leather, the Canal Grande is available in two
sizes. They can be found in Emmei’s 2008
Movimento Moderno series – a collection of luxury furniture in classic
contemporary style.
