Taking the phrase “precious sleep” literally, Italian
mattress maker Magniflex has fashioned a bedding line out of the precious metals, gold
and platinum.
The gold mattress is made with a 22-carat gold yarn cover,
and features the company’s patented Memoform Core (made from soy and vegetable
oil), which adapts to the shape of the body with up to 85 percent accuracy.
Magniflex says the physical properties of gold render the
mattress anti-bacteria, anti-inflammatory, anti-stress and anti-dust mite, and
odor-free. Carrying a price tag of $24,000, each mattress also comes with
matching gold pillows at $1,000 each.
Upping the ante on its luxury collection, Magniflex has
added the Platinum version, which essentially boasts the same features as the
gold version, albeit with a platinum fiber cover. At $75,000 – more than triple the price of the gold version – the platinum
bed could also possibly be the most expensive in the world.
