Hidden away in the idyllic town of Luang Prabang in Laos is Amantaka, Amanresorts’ latest addition to their collection of intimate retreats. The property’s lovingly-restored French colonial buildings that used to house the town’s provincial hospital also make it the first UNESCO World Heritage destination in the collection.

During their stay, guests at Amantaka will get to call one of the 24 spacious suites surrounding the central pool and courtyard home. With five-meter high ceilings and expansive indoor and outdoor living areas, the Suites give plenty of space to call your own.

The four Pool Suites and two Amantaka Suites come with private eight-meter pools, with the latter equipped with private spa treatment rooms.

The history and culture of this picturesque town have been carefully woven into the Amantaka experience. Authentic Lao cuisine and French-influenced international fare grace the dining tables, while Southeast Asian wellness techniques complete their relaxing spa treatments.

Yoga classes at the fitness center bring out the strong Buddhist spirituality of the region. There’s also a boutique and art gallery featuring the handicrafts of local artisans and hill tribes, a good place to hunt for keepsakes for a token piece of Laos.
