The biggest names in the world of Ballet
came together on 22 May at the Hong Kong Cultural Grand Centre Theatre to
perform Hong Kong Ballet’s GALAXY International Ballet Gala.
The performance, which melds together
famous repertoires such as “The Sleeping Beauty” and “Don Quixote”, ran from 22
May to 24 May to commemorate the company’s 30th anniversary. Sponsored by Swarovski, the opening night
was a glittery affair with an intermission cocktail for VIPs and a post-performance
supper at the InterContinental Hong Kong.
Along with the Hong Kong Ballet Guild
Co-chairmen Deirdre Fu and Flora Cheong-leen, local star performers like Guest
Principal Dancer Tan Yuan Yuan mingled with their international compatriots including
Alina Cojocaru from The Royal Ballet and Mark Radjapov from Dortmund Opera House Ballet.
