It seems like the F1 continues to inspire
even beyond the race track with F1 designer Dominik Scheurer’s manipulation of
carbon fibre, the lightweight composite material famously used to construct F1
cars, to create the world’s first carbon fibre chessboard.
The chessboard is
the first innovation from Scheurer’s new project entitled “Carbon Luxury”.
Handmade using 100% carbon combined with
epoxy resin, the board is cured under pressure and high temperature much like
an F1 car part, and later gilded in 24 carat gold and silver.
Retailing at
12,000 Swiss Francs per board, only 101 boards have been created where each
purchase will be accompanied with a hand signed certificate to cement its
exclusivity.
