Wyndham Hotel Group
marks its first foray into China with the opening of the Wyndham Xiamen
hotel.
The U.S.-based hospitality giant currently franchises 175
hotels and five brands in America but Wyndham Xiamen is the Group’s sole
representative in the Asia-Pacific region.
There is no shortage of MICE facilities in this 588-room
five-star property for the savvy CEO and his/her entourage of executives, with
no less than a dozen meeting rooms for groups of various sizes, including the
1,260 sq meter grand ballroom which can host up to 1,000 guests.
The top five floors of this 26-floor hotel are dedicated to
the hotel’s VIP guests, with executive lounge, library, and business services.
With all the avant-garde architecture that is springing up
all over China these days, it’s interesting to note that Wyndham Xiamen has
chosen to pay homage to a legendary figure from the city’s maritime past and
Chinese folklore.
A seven-meter tall statue of the Chinese deity Mazu, known
to the natives as the Goddess of the Sea, graces the entrance of the hotel,
watching over guests who walk through its doors, just as she has protected
generations of Chinese fishermen and sailors in one of China’s foremost trading
ports.
