Famed architect Zaha Hadid is slowly but
surely dotting the global landscape with her architectural creations.
Alongside
her stints in fashion such as the Lacoste
collaboration, she is also juggling a myriad of projects including the
London Aquatics Centre for the 2012 Summer Olympics and most recently, Cairo Expo City.
Hadid’s winning design sprawls 450,000
square metres and possesses the signature fluidity of her work. Made to imitate
the natural topography of the Nile valley, the design, almost malleable in appearance, will eventually
house exhibitions and conferences for the influx of business travellers Cairo is seeking to
attract in its plans for revitalisation.
The main artery of the building will
branch off into tributaries leading to the different halls needed for meetings
and business purposes. Incidentally, Hadid is also on board to construct Stone Towers, a
business park in Cairo.
