Madonna looks just
as comfortable sprawled amidst lush draperies as she does in a Parisian café.
Where she silently smoldered in the latter for Louis Vuitton Spring/Summer
2009, this time Madonna returns wide-eyed and bunny ear-ed for the Fall/Winter advertising
campaign.
The holy trinity
of the French fashion house- Marc Jacobs as artistic director, Steven Meisel as
photographer and Madonna as model and muse- relocated to a New York studio for the shoot.
Each
portrait-like photograph mirrors the aristocracy of the golden age of Hollywood, a
fitting backdrop to showcase the ruffles, sequins, silks and all-over
extravagance of Marc Jacob’s ready-to-wear collection for Louis Vuitton.
Inspiration was drawn from other celebrated artists- the rich colour
palette reminiscent of a Tamara de Lempicka painting glimmers ethereally with
help from Man Ray’s solarization techniques.
The Louis Vuitton Fall/Winter 2009-2010 advertising campaign will break
in the August 2009 issues of magazines worldwide.
