Drawing inspirations from his frequent travels (during which he would set
aside time to source for vintage pieces and exquisite items), Marko Matysik
makes creating haute couture seem so natural and effortless.
Take this
Guinevere Chatelaine Belt for example – the inspiration came from the Victorian
period when women wear chatelaines as a practical form of jewelry since their
clothing then had no pockets.
The belt that Matysik fashioned features four
trinkets – a silver perfume bottle, an embossed compact case, a chain mail
purse and an embossed note book case – all dating to the 1880s.
Once again,
Matysik paired the belt with an antique buckle and a 19th century
floral clasp, in his own words, “rather than leave them sitting in a
collector’s box or in a museum drawer”. These items are given a new lease of
life and proudly shown off “in the middle of one’s own silhouette as a
ravishing belt that punctuates any ensemble”.
