Maserati’s long-awaited drop-top, the GranCabrio, will make
its bow at the upcoming Frankfurt Motor Show in mid-September, but ahead of the
show, the Trident marque has offered a sneak peek to its third model, which it
says “completes Maserati's product
line-up”.
As you can see, the Maserati GranCabrio continues the
Pininfarina design DNA superbly, and marks the Modena outfit’s first four-seater
convertible in its history – and naturally, the convertible with the longest wheelbase
on the market. Essentially, the GranCabrio is a GranTurismo sans metal roof.
In a nod to the Spyders produced by the marque in times
past, the GranCabrio will don a canvas roof. Instead of the base 4.2-liter
powerplant from the GranTurismo however, the GranCabrio gets more juice from a
4.7 liter V8 engine, producing 433-hp. The GranCabrio goes on sale in late
2010. We’ll bring you more details of the car as and when they are released.
