The Hermes Birkin and Kelly get a chance once more to prove their weight in gold as Christie’s gets ready for an auction of historically important handbags.

With a reputed six-year waiting list, getting a Birkin can be an exercise in futility so Christie’s South Kensington invites bag ladies to drop in on their UK auction 19 November. The auction house also has a selection of vintage jewelry to ogle and possibly bid on, if the Birkins aren’t tempting enough.

As you might expect, if you know anything at all about Hermes Birkins, the estimates for the bags easily beat those for the jewelry.
